"SBSB stands for Standert Bicycles and Stone Brewing Berlin, so expect hot bikes and cold beer!
The racing will be a fast paced spectacle and we can already tell you two things about it - true to Berlin heritage there will be cobbles and we’ll premier an exciting format that you have never raced before.
The race is held on a technical challenging course with a total length of 850 meters. 35 laps of racing also means 35 times taking on the cobbled section - the “Arrogant Bastard Straight”. Positioning will be crucial here before entering the finishing straight and going into the technical left-right combination - the “Standert S”.
In traditional German criterium racing there are point sprints every few laps. Only these points decide who wins in the end. A lot of action, that’s cool.
Still we wanted to spice it up a bit - a lot actually.
SO HERE IS WHAT WE DO:
Every lap there will be points for (only) the first rider crossing the line.
The amount of the points is directly connected to the lap count. For example winning the 1st lap gives you 1 point, 13th lap gives you 13 points, 25th lap gives you 25 points and the 30th lap gives you 30 points, and so on - easy right? To understand yes, to win no.
Staying focused, tactics and positioning throughout the whole race distance will be key. Non-stop action and a thrilling event for the riders and spectators is guaranteed.
apped riders will be taken out. No material zone, no free laps." Words from SBSB website
