Five rides in and we're still going strong. Having travelled West, North, East and significantly South we decided to take things back to where we began and ride a slightly modified version of our very first route. This time however with a significantly larger group including our good friends from Cycle PS Camberwell, Harvey and Tom.
We hit the road at around 8pm this time leading with my newly built Surly Steamroller and it's super wide Gusset bars. The weather was great and the roads clear as we surged up through Peckham High Street across to New Cross Rd and down into the depths of Deptford and then on to Greenwich and the tunnel.
Safely across we rode the riverside once again all the way down to Blue Bridge and on to the largely hidden entry to Blackwall way. At the end of Blackwall way we carefully traversed two roundabouts to hit Silvocea Way, which should have taken us across Bow Creek via a particularly dodgy looking bridge. Sadly our path was blocked by a police car and two officers. Apparently there had been an incident that evening and the route was cordoned off.
Not wanting to find out the details we diverted up across East India Dock Road and dropped down onto Warfside Road via some dark stairs to cut under the main road and reappear on Bidder St. From here we shot up to our next stop the dead end just off Cody Rd.
After a quick refresher we continued on away from Twelvetrees Crescent ducking under the A12 and out next to the Galvanisers Union. We then joined the A12 going North briefly till we met the Bow Rd flyer over roundabout where we carefully slipped off onto a footpath along the River Lea which took us to our final destination Crate Brewery and Pizzeria where we enjoyed a well earned beer and a tasty pizza before heading home.
